The dog is sick. The cat just puked cause he ate to fast. That's where I'm at.

I rode my bike to work the other day for the first time this rainy season and thought, "Ah, adrenaline, good to see you, nice day, isn't it?" Shit is stupid. Quote me on that.

On Monday I went out with my new friend, who is so smart and beautiful and seemingly together despite chaos. He rocked my world to the point of giddyness.

Last night I conversed with some interesting folks. A bdsm gay/bi top from Philly, who's a recovering meth head and very loud. A 52 year-old butch dyke who travelled with llamas for 12 weeks in Thailand. A pool shark to whom I lost three beers and five bucks. Sucker.

I've been pretty down lately, which isn't surprising given the combination of daylight savings, winter and rain. It also doesn't help that, because I begin orchestra rehearsals on the 26th, I've been practicing and listening to Mahler's Symphony #4 non-stop. God, it's a strange piece of work. So beautiful, intimate and, well, sad.

At least it's not Barber'sAdagio for Strings. The first time I performed that, I cried. The second time, I swayed. The third time, enough already. Yes it was in Platoon and, hey, did you know there are other moving pieces in the world? It's true!

This week, the girl who lives upstairs was headed to work. She tied her two dogs to the newspaper stand at the market across the street. The big dog, Norman, got excited when some pups passed and he jumped so hard that he pulled the newspaper box over onto his leg, which broke in three places, none cleanly. He wailed terrifying moans for three days. The girl couldn't get the $4000 for surgery and had to have him put to sleep.

And my friend Betty's cat just had a heart attack in her lap.

In good news, when I named my feral cat Little, she was in fact little. After feeding her enough for her to mimic permanent pregnancy, I've officially changed her name to Little McFatty.

Lord, does that make me laugh.
